Dads, do you have couch time with your wife? Just the two of you talking about your day, or about what’s happening tomorrow? You should. Several times a week.
In any case, if you do this at the end of the day, which my wife and I do, here’s my suggestion. Do it all the way at the end of the day. And by that I mean put your pajamas on, open up your bed, and if you have straightening and other things you’re going to do, do them.
That way, when you sit down with your wife, you can have the blessed feeling that everything else is done, and now it’s just you and her.

My wife and started couch time a about a year or so ago. I would typically finish dinner, get the kids down for bed and then stay up light on the computer all night working on freelance projects. So, in our case, we have couch time immediately after our kids have been put to bed – that way it happens no matter what.

We’ve done this virtually every night of our marriage before we go to bed. One variation is that we have in our room and it includes our daily devotion and prayer. We call it “tuck in time” because my wife goes to bed much earlier than me. We’ve talked about changing the timing of our devotion once our newborn twins get older.

Matt, Yes, it’s nice to have the kids in bed while you’re trying to talk.
Ryan, my wife had suggested reading and devotions in bed, but I don’t like sitting up in bed.
I’m glad to hear that you guys both do alone time.

my wife and I have been doing this for a couple months now – it is amazing what it does for our relationship! Good to hear others do this too!!
