Jennifer, yes anyone can comment, please do so.

Andy, yes, Caution is very important. And yes, I too would be nervous about posting about negative traits that my kids have. Not that they have any, mind you.

I think it is important for parents who blog about their kids to be very careful about what they say. When I write, I work very hard to stay positive and not reveal my kids' darkest secrets. I would never want my children to find my blog someday and say to themselves, "I never knew Daddy felt that way about me. I'm so hurt."

I am also careful to try to keep our location and our personal plans somewhat discrete. Now if someone really wanted to know who we were and what we were doing they could probably figure that out from the blog. But I never put our address or anything like that.

I'm with you on most of what you've written, but I think the caution is wise.

I'm not a daddy-blogger so I hope it is okay to comment here... but I just have to chime in with my own two cents. I think this is largely a matter of personal conscience. For some families, it provides a perceived measure of protection from those evil people who might take their child's face and put it on the body of a naked child. It might also make them feel safe from the person who would follow their blog and try to snatch their child in the park one day.

I for one, can not do anything about the depraved picture editor. But, I can be careful about posting my schedule on my blog, making sure people don't know where we are going until after we've been there.

I freely share photos and stories of my daughters on my blog. Do I share the bathtub pictures? Heck no. But as my blog is primarily my scrapbook of their lives, I document both the large and small events of their days.

So I use pseudonyms? Well, I would, except I think the stories of my daughter's names is one way I give God glory. Both Charlotte Moon (http://www.familymusings.com/2007/11/why-we-honor-name-of-charlotte-moon.html) and Mary Mitchell (http://www.familymusings.com/2009/09/why-we-honor-name-of-mary-mitchell.html) are named after amazing missionary women and I feel their name stories are a way to introduce my faith, and what I hope will be theirs, to the people I call online friends.
